BACKBONE2025
Made for those who build, fix, and create—because duct tape can’t do it all. Just tools that work as hard as the hands that use them. Real work starts with a strong backbone. The package exhibits the tool and illustrates the item it can fix. It uses a split metaphor that reinforces the idea that the tool is an extension of the user’s work.
A brand spot highlighting the concept of the brand’s spine. Just as the backbone provides stability and support to the body, tools are the core of any project.
The key problems I found in tool packaging are plastic waste, no shelf presence, and lack of sensory engagement. The reenvisioned material for this brand is made out of reusable sandpaper to create a tactile experience.
The pattern represents a spine, and the counter spaces within the letter ‘B’ are shaped to reflect different screw head types.
Inspired by OSHA’s workwear color guidelines.
I used Adobe Firefly to generate realistic mockups from flat illustrations created in Illustrator, then enhanced details in Photoshop.
